Freaky Little Experiment Way back when, and probably last week, there was an article about how 99% of human faces are not symmetrical, and how someone whom everyone basically agrees is beautiful is far more likely to have a perfectly symmetrical face.BTW, if you'd like the same done to you, send me a straight on photo of you, and I'll send you back all three...though unless you specifically forbid it, I'll post the photos here with your comments as well. 2012 Top Britain did a "Most Natural Beauty" contest in 2012 and this 18 year old won...so I ran the experiment on her...
Not terribly symmetrical at all - maybe that's what makes her a "natural" beauty! 2006 Top As I happened to have this straight on shot of my face, so I thought I'd see what I'd look like if I had a perfectly symmetrical face (which I don't). Since I didn't know which side was my "better" side, I give you both...and it's freaky. I mean these people could be related to me, but it's definitely NOT my face.
Right has better cheekbones and lips. Left *definitely* has a thinner face. As far as I can tell though, my eyes are identical. Interestingly enough though, if you look at the normal shot, you can see my face is FAR from level. My left eyebrow, eye, and ear (right in the picture) are a good 1/4" lower. BTW, in case you're curious, the picture is level - a straight line down will cut both my nose and lips directly in half. I think if I had to pick one (other than normal) I'd go with Right...but I'd probably dislike my chin :-P 2020 Top In 2020 and I'd been asked for a face-front shot - this time with hair back and eyes closed, so I'm back here updating this :-)
Fascinating enough I feel like now Lefty looks enough like me for me to believe it's me, and Righty is totally different - yet I still like the rounder face more (despite it being the opposite side from 2006). Plus I will always love my cool scar :-D |
